Meeting notes - 12/6/21

Participants: Intlcapitalist, Jaydao, Sorolla_, web3marketer

Topics discussed

  • bDAO acting both as a media channel and marketing agency
  • bDAO has been offering marketing services for 6+ months
  • Putting together a portfolio of those clients for social proof, listed below
  • Addressed pricing and scope of work for marketing services offered by the DAO
  • Being clear in the outline of services promised is key for scaling successfully

Conclusions

  • We can offer two types of campaigns
  1. Bankless Media Campaign: you advertise on bDAO's channels (social, newsletter etc) a) done for you: bDAO creates the content for you - more value, more expensive b) done with you: you supply the marketing materials - it can lead to delays from the client side
  1. Bankless Marketing Consulting (doesn't include access to our channels)
The DAO will act as a marketing agency with a campaign manager that requests whatever work is needed (copywriters, designers, media buyers etc) from the DAO and delivers an ongoing service to external projects. We prefer "done for you" so we can add more value and act faster.
  • We need to put together a portfolio of previous work that we can use as social proof and to consolidate the services we can offer based on what we've done already
  • We need to better define the scope of work to make an appropriate pricing plan for the above. Create a baseline of included services and then they can demand for more, not less so they can't reduce the price.
  • Allowing advertising on Bankless' channels needs to be done carefully. Only legit quality projects and not so many so it's too much and it makes the channels spammy.

Next steps

  • Jaydao and web3marketer will work on the offer and price tiers based on what we have now
  • Intcapitalist will reach out to grendel to gather KPIs from previous campaigns we have run
  • Sorolla will review both
  • We'll meet again on Thursday at 8PM CET/10AM PT on This little piggy

Miscellaneous

Previous clients mentioned by Intlcapitalist

  • Gitcoin
  • Aragon
  • Hack for Freedom
  • Pickle Finance (wasn't the best campaign; not the most credible project)

- I think it needs clarification. Is this the DAO Guild being the project's marketing agency, or the DAO offering its media platforms to advertise on it? Or both? Creative design like the "design" block offers is mkt agency work, but the what's included list only mentions x amount of exposure in the DAOs channels, two very different things. - The first block "Design" says that the DAOs team of designers will generate content, but the what's included section says "client supplies all images" Which one is it? All other blocks (content and copy, web3 native solutions and so on) are not in the list of what's included. Being specific when taking client work is essential to avoid misunderstandings. - When offering the DAOs media as ad channels for projects, it would be good to show what's the reach of the network. Many people know Bankless in depth, others not so much. The way platforms normally present their media opportunities to customers is through a media kit like this from CoinTelegraph. How many subscribers/viewers/followers and some storytelling will help a lot in convincing people to use bankless as a platform. https://s3.cointelegraph.com/storage/uploads/view/51aaa618e81c32bde64fa13a8d64744b.pdf?_ga=2.269111544.827905088.1637594340-562951091.1636204649 - This being a landing page, it needs a header and subheader. That's what most people see first and it needs to convey the message quickly In case we are just advertising BanklessDAO as a media channel Header: Reach the most sophisticated crypto audience Subheader: BanklessDAO is the fastest growing crypto media community. See how we can make you a top of mind player. In case we are offering a full circle marketing service Header: Leave the marketing to us Subheader: Hire a full circle marketing service for your project: creatives, media channels, web3 native solutions and community building. We take care of everything so you can focus on building - The payment plan recurs monthly, are the social media posts per week or per month? One tweet a month might not sound like a great offer to some people. Same with all other channels. Finally and probably most important, if the intention is to offer full management of creative design, web3 native solutions implementation, content creation, community growth AND media exposure, I think it's VERY underpriced. All of this recurring, monthly, involves at least 4-5 people for at least 20 hours/week. I come from a marketing agency and we charged a lot more for a lot less. $4,500 doesn't even start covering it. Don't think of doing it for one client, think of 10 and you'll see how bad it scales. So either we offer less stuff or we charge more (if we have the capacity to offer all of this, the choice is clear, if not I'd cut on promises)
