Day 15: 3 Twitter (X) Mistakes

Cohort Day
15
Hi there,
Writing is more fun when people read it. Twitter (X) is a great place to reach those people.
Here are 3 mistakes you might be making when sharing your writing on Twitter.
1. You included a link to your post in the first Tweet.
The Twitter algorithm does not like when you direct users away from the site.
Solution:
  1. Put the link further down the Twitter thread
  1. Reply to the thread with the link in a separate tweet

2. Your first tweet is a wall of text.
Walls of text are difficult to read.
People will likely move on if your first tweet is a 280-character paragraph.
Use spacing and bullets to make your tweets easier to read.

3. Your first tweet doesn’t generate any interest.
Your first tweet should grab the attention of the reader.
Give them a reason to spend 5 minutes reading your writing.
  1. Clarity First. Clearly and simply share the main idea
  1. Be Specific. Be Descriptive. Avoid a vague headline that doesn't give the reader an idea of what's coming next
  1. Appeal to Emotions. Identify a core emotion (like curiosity) and tap into it
