Gitcoin Grants Tutorial
Introduction
There is a bit of friction in using the Gitcoin grants system, both with the tech and the procedure. To reliably submit RnDAO's Gitcoin grants and to optimally fund them, we need to work on strengthening individual Github and Gitcoin profiles, and then get some practice using the site and the wallet.
If you’d like a review of the current state of your accounts, kindly update or add your account info to the Membership Gitcoin list [presented information comes from already existing RnDAO listings and every bit is optional]. Let me know on Discord [WaKa#6616] when ready for me to take a look. With the matching round starting on Wed, September 7th, we truly need your time and attention right away.
Github
Since the information in your Github profile gets pulled into Gitcoin, let’s update it first. Here, more is better, and making it serious and professional is recommended.
Use a distinctive avatar icon, perhaps the same one across most of your accounts.
You do need a working Twitter link.
Having a personal site is impressive, or you can create a listing on one of many profile sites, like about.me, linktr.ee, and link it.
For an email, use some secondary or backup one. Check it occasionally for invites.
Repos
Brand new Github users should Fork some repos [upper right corner], at least 3-4, and you can also Star them. Some ideas for interesting Github organizations [after https://github.com]:
- near
- MetaFam
- talentDAO
- BrightID
- RnDAO
- [add your favs here]
If you have some interesting, original, or updated repos, do Pin a couple.
Follow
Follow you friends and colleagues’ Github accounts, from the Membership Gitcoin list.
Gitcoin
Load the icon and pick a background.
My Account / Settings / Account select both Contributor and Funder.
Add LinkedIn under Job Status [optional].
You can pick some Wallet Privacy, but we do need your profile to be visible and searchable.
Add something, even if decorative, to Portfolio.
Generally, fill in most fields and add links.
Activity
Comment in Town Square.
Follow all RnDAO grants, Star some messages, add some.
Follow colleagues’ Gitcoin accounts, from the Membership Gitcoin list.
Forthcoming
Funding and Fees
We will providing advice on funding grants, while saving on fees. [instructions coming].
Trust Bonus / Passport
Later in the week you’ll be building-up your Trust Bonus {Passport} [instructions coming].
Don't worry about more complex entries. One can get to 145% with just FB, Google, ENS, POAP, etc..
