Determining secure thresholds for attestor yield over total yield,
Abstract
Context + research questions.
In the context of Ethereum's proof-of-stake mechanism, the balance between attestor yield,
, and total staking yield,
, is critical for consensus stability and validator incentives. Attestors in Ethereum are validators who participate in the consensus process by voting on blocks (head, source and target vote). The proportion of yield attributed to attestor duties influences validators' behavior. If the yield from attestor duties is too low compared to other sources (like block proposing), validators may deprioritize honest attestation. This could compromise the integrity of the consensus process. A higher proportion of
is more desirable as it encourages validators to perform their attesting duties more diligently.
