Feedback/notes/ideas:
Things we did well
- (links) I think the emphasis on quality editing was good - it definitely made me feel I could spend more time on an article and I really felt like I helped a few authors nurture their voices
- (links) I liked the empowerment of people like SamJ and Trewkat, although I almost wish I understood more what their authorities/responsibilities are
- (links) is it just me or is the newsletter fucking killing it? Are they part of EPA? Cause they are fucking killing it
Things we could improve
- (links) I felt a bit stressed with the constant inflow of new articles to edit. I identified that I could handle 1 article every 2 weeks and ended up doing roughly one a week, which was difficult when I was spending ~5hrs/article
- (links) I have a lot less motivation to edit articles. Partly this is due to economic forces (pay has been decreased and the price of BANK is down), but also I don’t really see what I’m doing makes a difference. I don’t really see where we are going as an organization
- I also realize that since I only get paid if an article gets published, I have even less incentive to spend time on things, because if I make too many edits, authors might be turned off of leveling up their article
- (links) our talent process leaves a lot to be desired. I used to feel energized about the WG, new people constantly coming in and contributing. Now it feels like we are stagnating a bit
- I will admit I’m not always able to make it to meetings, so I may have an outlier view
- (links) IP agreement needs to be solidified
- (links) feels slow to get an article from submission to published
Things I am pondering
- (links) What does decentralized publishing even mean? How is it different from centralized publishing?
- I’ve had a few conversations about this and it’s clear that my ideas are NOT everyone else’s ideas
- Some people say “I dunno, that’s what we’re trying to figure out!” - it would be nice to at least have some sort of operating hypothesis
