What does it mean to be an artist in bDAO?
Twitter Profile
I've worn a lot of hats over the years but I went to school for graphic design from 2003 to 2005 and video game design from 2007 to 2008. I write a novel and illustrate a comic that shows on Tapas and Webtoons. I currently hold Graphic Design Lead in Podcast Hatchery, share the Governance/Community lead in A/V Guild in Bankless, and I'm a genesis member of Ultrasound Merch.
It's a bit of a roller coaster. The ups and downs can cause a form of whiplash but I think it's all good in the end. The more you participate the more people can see your work, and collaboration makes the best work. Two of the three pieces I've attached are NFTs currently available on my OpenSea.
DAOs can make the artist and art get noticed. Not just for exposure but helping the artists get remuneration is a big deal. No more starving artists. We have new options!

A lot of meaningful work and people seeing your art. You can work at your own pace and things are getting done and the euphoria from seeing your own work being used regularly really gives a thrill.

Filmmaker, Editor, Economics. Success in Web3 is my goal. I was too young for the Dotcom bubble and the explosion of crypto, but I promised myself I wouldn't miss another opportunity like this. I believe Web3 and the decentralized internet is the future, and I hope that I can influence positive change in the digital world.
It reminds me of the wild west. Lots of opportunity, but with people and entities looking to scam and trick. You need to be smart and perceptive to succeed in an unregulated environment, but the chance for success is undeniable. Reputation is important, and small artists and talented individuals need to take back the initiative on NFT's, or the concept will be tainted by greed.
The biggest problem is branching DAOs outside of the crypto space. Unfortunately, as a result of the reputation of NFT's, many artists and crypto newbies are rightfully nervous about a new, unproven concept like DAOs. If BanklessDAO can shake the connotations, just the existence of the DAO is enough to influence a paradigm shift in the art world.

BanklessDAO is a great platform to hone my skills and find opportunities to create art. I don't think I'm alone in saying I prefer to work for myself, but having the DAO as a space that appreciates and needs art gives me motivation to work.
Hello! I'm an aspiring artist currently learning to draw decently and perform magic on photoshop for POAP artworks. John Howe and Alan Lee are my inspirations; because they use one pencil to rule 'em all!
The NFT world symbolises empowerment of artists and creatives. Art has never been more accessible to the masses until NFTs and never so intertwined with people's identities or social life. NFTs has made people adopt art into their lives in ways previously not thought of e.g. wearing a favourite NFT on a shirt, or smart watch. And the fact that it's not a right-click saved image, the ownership of the NFT, transforms the relationship we have with the artwork into something deeper.
The best thing about DAOs is how anyone can grow to become an artist as long as they want to. In the gaming and film industry, an artists' qualifications, portfolio and work experiences matter and is often required for them to get the job. In DAOs, there's room to grow and acquire the portfolio and experiences while rubbing shoulders with industry players.

BanklessDAO has given me invaluable opportunities as an aspiring artist. I have never found the courage to seriously draw in pre-DAO days. My hand-me-down tablet sat in my drawer for two years, untouched and neglected until DAOlife happened. I had never used Procreate and was totally clueless about photoshop brushes. BanklessDAO gave me a reason to discover these magic and grow.
Formal Forensic scientist from Thailand but I've thrown 9 years of science education out the window for a life doodles! Joined BanklessDAO last August and my only regret is that I didn’t join earlier.
To be honest with you, it isn’t a road with roses. You have to work hard to get what you want. A major benefit for artists in NFT world is you own and earn with your piece forever. Your name as a creator will stay with your art. Communities and frens in DAOs are amazing.
How can DAOs help art?
I’m nobody today without BanklessDAO. I don’t exactly know how other DAOs can help artists but I know what BanklessDAO can.
I came in the DAO with low confidence in my doodles. Grendel gave me a chance to join an illustration campaign. He said he loved it but it wasn’t it. He sent it over to friends and it was 🔥 Kouros contacted and invited me to showcase my art.
I would still draw every now and then without these 2 persons but I wouldn't be the Nittra I am today without the opportunities I've been given here.

A space for fun
- Many supportive frens
- Awesome atmosphere
- Zero hours of sleeping
- Independent and decentralized
- Non stop growth
- GM all the time
Now put together the first letter of each sentence above and it says AMAZING. That is what it means to be an artist in BanklessDAO!
I'm a photographer based in Los Angeles, California. My photography is bold and concept driven, and at times can venture to commercial or other visual aspects of the field.
The NFT world has seen an exponential rise in the last few months and with that, has captured major cultural significance. The NFT space will continue to surprise in 2022, as it upends major traditional markets(beyond the Art Market) and empowers the individuals as well as like minded organizations. I believe we will see a shift in the aesthetic quality of new art traded in the coming months as more serious collectors join the fold.
DAOs can play a major role in helping collectors navigate the NFT art market. These organizations can shine light on who are legitimate creators, both from the traditional realm and their equivalent peers in the wholly digital metaverse.

Being an artist in Bankless DAO means that I can enhance my skillset by pivoting into an emergent space that is exciting and provides new challenges. The BDAO design community is diverse due to its worldwide participation, and these unique perspectives are shared and uplift our efforts. The BDAO mission further incentivizes my artistic participation in its success, as it aligns with my values in making a positive mark on the word.
@RushVarela
I am a self-taught artist who spends most of my time in front of a computer making graphics and 3D renders. I started contributing to the Bankless DAO around the same time I got into NFTs, and I have had a brilliant time participating in both the DAO and the NFT world. I also make a free VJ Loop every week.
The NFT world has experienced an unprecedented growth over the past few months and the momentum does not seem to be slowing down. The cultural significance of NFTs is onboarding more and more people into the NFT world every single day. Through NFTs, artist now have the ability to monetize their art in a way that we have never seen before, this has led to an exponential growth in the community of artists, and collectors, and even developers.
DAOs can contribute to art in various different ways. Some DAOs contribute by collecting art with cultural significance. Other DAOs contribute by helping artists grow and upskill themselves. There are also DAOs who help with spreading the word and helping artists build a community around them. Through these different ways of contributing, DAOs have cemented themselves as a top level organisation to help legitimate creators and artists build a solid foundation for success in the art world.

Being an artist in the Bankless DAO means to be able to showcase your artistic skillset and enhance them by contributing to the various projects that the DAO has to offer. Along the way you get to engage in a rapidly growing and diverse community and help each other grow not only as an artist, but also as a person.
