Learn about the DAO onboarding experience

Onboarding is an easy process that happens in three stages.
Overall, the process is currently taking 2-5 days. Our goal is under 24 hours to participation!
The info here covers the GitcoinDAO process of onboarding a contributor to the community, tools, and processes which are shared across all of the DAO streams & squads.
Each stream has its own way of onboarding you to their specific tasks. Many will get you started while the Contributor Success Squad is still showing you around! Yay parallel processing 🎉
 
Once a new contributor has finished this process, they will:
  • Have an understanding of the values & mission of GitcoinDAO
  • Have an understanding of how they can earn with GitcoinDAO
  • Have an understanding of how to find opportunities and apply to them
  • Have key contacts to go to for help & other questions
  • Have proper access & permissions to get started
 
 
The DAO Contributor Success Squad facilitates the process below:

When approved, we will schedule a 30 min onboarding call
Say hi in Discord and select the "governance" emoji in the #start-here channel
The Review Squad will approve your application and provide basic contributor access asap
 
At this point, the new contributor can see all the open streams & squads and can apply to them.
Introduction - Let's get to know each other
Select and attend a 30 minute orientation call with a contributor success squad member
An alternative or complementary to this is to attend one of the biweekly new contributor meetups (coming soon)
Confirms stream and squad interest and meet stream and/or squad leads
 
The new contributor now has two go to contacts and has been permissioned for proper access.
Participation - Start contributing & earning
A application of yours is accepted by a stream & squad
Selects First Tasks & Projects - Executes
Registers for dRewards prior to end of first weekly "epoch"
Receives first dRewards - Now you are an official contributor with a verifiable onchain history!
 
At this point, the contributor is comfortable applying to new streams & squads and has earned their first dRewards. They understand who to ask for help, how they will earn, and where to find opportunities to contribute.
That is it! Once you have onboarded, the possibilities are endless 🤖🚀
