Craig is a bot that records audio in voice channels and makes them available for download afterwards.
Â
đź’ˇ
There are two Craig bots. :craig: and :giarc:
Giarc is a second instance of Craig, meant to be a backup. It will record in the same channel, but you are supposed to be able to use Giarc independently of Craig.
To do so, use @Giarc as the command prefix instead of :craig:
How to Record
Join the voice channel you would like to record
While in that voice channel, you should be able to summon Craig in any text channel you're working in.
Use the /join command in the #bot-commands channel. This will invite the Craig bot into the voice channel you are in and will immediately begin recording.
When you begin recording, the Craig bot will direct message you with links to access your audio recording and post a message in reply.
When you are done recording press the red Stop recording button or use the /stop command.
Â
You can also explicitly specify a channel name. For instance, to record the “General” channel, type /join channel:general
Â
Tips
Don't start Craig until the event is about to start. If there is silence, Craig will stop recording after 5 minutes.
If everyone leaves the voice channel while Craig is still recording, he will stop recording. You don't need to use the leave command in that case.
Tips on using Giarc (the backup of Craig)
As mentioned, you can use Giarc independently of Craig. To do so, use the slash command Giaric (maroon background) instead of Craig (teal background).
Â
Giarc does not reply to public commands, so that you don't get spammed by both Craig and Giarc.
Like Craig, Giarc sends you a download link when you start recording. When possible, Giarc sends it via Craig, so you won't get flooded with messages from multiple bots. The message from Giarc is labeled “[BACKUP]”.
Giarc is hosted in France, while Craig is hosted in Canada. As such, if you're in Europe or Asia, you may prefer to use Giarc's download links instead of Craig's. Feel free! Giarc has all the same functionality as Craig does.
All Craig users are free to use Giarc. Patrons receive the same patron benefits as when using Craig.

Please note:
Recordings are deleted automatically after 7 days. As such, do not post the download link you receive from Craig/Giarc in Notion or elsewhere.
In the case of Notion , upload the actual audio file directly, or post a link to the file if it is in a location where it will not be deleted. Both options are shown below in line.
Select all the tracks with command-A (MAC) or ctrl-A (WINDOWS), then click on mix and render to New Track.
After that you can delete all the single tracks by clicking the X on the top left of each track.
Then finally export the new mixed track by clicking export.
Can you do this for me instead?
Short answer, yes. Ping #av-general with your request and let us know what you want.
Minimum charge 300 BANK for basic 1 hour recording, start/stop and post unedited file.
If you want a guaranteed recording (audio engineer on call, capturing locally, editing for pop & clicks, etc) the cost will depend on the scope.
Please give us as much notice as you are able to ensure availability to assist you.
