  • Thursday, February 10 (next week’s meeting) I won’t be here. I’d like to open it up to the Editors Circle so they can use the hour to discuss style guides and anything else on their minds.
  • POAPs for individual articles are coming SOON! Watch out for some links from me 🙂
  • Our Medium page was selected for the Medium Partner Program. That means we could put articles behind a paywall if we wanted to. I’m personally very anti-paywall. But I’d like to hear your all’s feedback.
    • I see two funding stream possibilities for us:
    • Paywall
    • Sponsors on our own website (we’ll start posting pieces on our bdao website and then get sponsors). Medium does not allow sponsors.
EPA Alt Time Zone meeting notes
  • blackwhite and psych guy would like to be mentees as soon as we can open up the program
  • Editing incentive structure is still off-balance: you make more $$ editing than writing even though we adjusted slightly. Should we adjust even more?
    • The Writathon/Write Sprint event will help, maybe. But should we create a more permanent incentive structure that incentivizes writing more?
  • Blockers to writing: making an outline/topic selection, feeling competent and confident enough to write about DAOs, finding the focus to write amidst the insanity of Web3 life
  • Psych Guy brought up that his attention is much more fragmented now that he’s been deeply involved in the DAO—this might be very common for people in Web3. We’re trying to keep track of way too much!
  • How to focus on writing when Discord and Web3 and crypto twitter are so distracting? Our brains are all over the place. How do we focus?
  • Creating clearer article ideas could help our writers get started
  • We can create a list of topics that have a few bullet points under each one
  • Seems like topic selection is the biggest blocker to writing
    • Adding deadlines could be another blocker—the wishy washy timelines seem to be a blocker
  • Comparison can be tough for writers—looking at very experienced writers and then getting down on yourself :( how can we support writers and help them work through this?
  • Psych Guy brought up that he shoots down his own ideas
  • Maybe we could encourage more article pitches? Either in Writers Workshop or a channel?
  • Psych Guy brought up Meeting Fatigue: wayyyy too many meetings!
    • How to create async article pitching?
  • Tomahawk brought up that Personal connections are being affected by energy stores. There are certain interactions that drain us and some that energize us.
  • Psych Guy brought up that Wonderland DAO insanity with Sifu was stressful even though he didn’t have funds in Wonderland. An example of energy draining due to Web3 insanity.
  • “Phantom responsibility” of making good things happen in Web3
  • Tomahawk brought up that the fiat value of tokens really affects all of us. Your mental wellbeing is drastically affected when you see that you’re becoming immensely poorer by the second.
    • How can we help people handle this? Also this is an interesting article topic.
  • Blackwhite brought up that a psychological piece on the influence of crypto would be super interesting.
  • Nekhee, a new member! First meeting woohoo!
    • Can relate to Psych Guy’s point of “shooting down your own ideas” as a writer.
    • Joined Bankless earlier in Jan, is from Nigeria, looking forward to writing for us
    • Currently working on a piece of how DeFi and TradFi will integrate. How does DeFi integrate with modern financial systems? What will we gain as a society from DeFi becoming more widespread?
  • Blackwhite is working on a piece that’s about how to valuate NFTs. Which ones are actually worth buying?
    • Has lots of NFTs on OpenSea and wants to write about how to flip them and make money off them
  • Blackwhite is also working on a piece about risk management. How to diversify? How to construct a properly diversified portfolio of crypto?

EPA regular meeting discussion points and notes
Our Write Sprint (title pending) will kick off Feb 21. We have a bunch of name ideas. Let’s narrow down to five and then make a poll.
  • We’re thinking 1 month timeframe
  • Incentives: 300 BANK extra for Medium article and 600 BANK extra for Mirror article (to be selected from the list of Mirror topics....not just any topic should be submitted for Mirror)
  • And a POAP!

Style Guides for Editors Circle
  • How should the Editors Circle plan to review these guides? What’s the process?
