Talks about #daos, #web3, #diversity, #mentalhealth, #neurodiversity and #venturecapital
Short Bio
Founded FTW DAO in 2021. Full-time DAOs for 3 years. Grants Lead @ Safe Foundation since 2023.
Started out in venture capital after doing a master’s degree in strategy and innovation. Worked with start-ups and corporates on digital products and innovation, then moved into working on sustainable finance initiatives.
Went down the web3 rabbit-hole after looking for better models of venture capital, and discovered venture DAOs in 2020. Obsessed with models for better capital allocation powered by web3 ever since.
I spend 90% of my time thinking about how to make venture capital and capital allocation better.

Maya Angelou said it best:
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour, and some style.”
🏝️ Grew up in New Zealand. 🍷 Matured in Europe.
My journey so far: Experimented with filmmaking in my early 20s then did a 180-degree turn after the GFC, and studied economics. Became obsessed with innovation and (high-quality) job creation. Moved into venture capital after doing a master’s degree in strategy and innovation. Worked with start-ups and corporates on digital products and innovation, then moved into working on sustainable finance initiatives.
How I ended up here: I went down the web3 rabbit-hole when I started looking for better models of venture capital and discovered venture DAOs in 2020. This came after a wild and painful experience with burn-out and depression, which led me to put high priority on the mental health and wellbeing of founders, and find ways to improve the dynamics of venture finance. Obsessed with models for better capital allocation powered by web3 ever since. Founded FTW DAO in 2021. Grants Lead @ Safe Foundation since 2023.
What I do now: I spend 90% of my time thinking about how to make venture capital better. Obsessed with Web3, blockchain, DAOs and decentralised finance.
"At FTW DAO we believe that the fastest route to real change at scale for diverse founders and investors will come by leveraging the networks and networked power of communities and ecosystems globally, uniting their knowledge, ideas and capital to invest in diverse founders outside of traditional funding structures."
Research focus:
Our work was originally inspired by the article Zebras Fix What Unicorns Break:
”We believe that developing alternative business models to the startup status quo has become a central moral challenge of our time. These alternative models will balance profit and purpose, champion democracy, and put a premium on sharing power and resources.”
We are designing a protocol and gamified app that allows anybody anywhere to find potential start-ups to invest in, and uses social signalling and token staking mechanisms to create token-curated registries of start-ups that have high investment potential.
We believe (Our hypothesis) that the best solution will be open-source and composable, allowing DAOs to leverage their communities in a way that lets the DAOs define and experiment with including their community (or other communities) in their investment processes. My research with the rnDAO fellowship aims to zoom in on this problem and approach, and we want to speak heavily with venture DAOs, investors and DAO contributors.
Passionate about:
1) investing in diversity and gender equality
2) simple, beautiful digital experiences
3) designing a better world and a more inclusive future of work
4) embracing humanity’s colourful variety (mental health, neurodiversity, gender spectrums)
