Overall governance vs Individual school
Thinking about our technological solution and the interface that people will interact on a consistent basis. The proposal is that we have One Macro DAO (SchoolDAO) which will hold within it all the individual schools/student councils and any subsequent SubDaos within them.
The Individual School DAO will always be Student Owned and our āserviceā will never include any management or monitory of that DAO (i.e. we are not responsible for what goes on in thereā¦)
Participation in individual School DAOs

- When a student graduates do they keep their membership?
- When a students is of a specific age do they automatically enter the DAO?
- Once they leave school do they get a special alumni āmodeā?
- Should the DAO hold a treasury or any tradable tokens?

This section is composed by a few modules which may or may not offer full integration with existing school systems.
The features of this area are:
Any member of the Individual School can propose an idea/issue to start a discussion (think of it like creating a thread on a forum or equivalent). They need to have at least a title of their idea and they can write up a brief explanation of their idea (e.g. 500 words?)
Any idea must meet a certain threshold {upvotes/likes etc} before it can move to debate and proposal section. Suggestion for threshold could be (upvote-downvote = +5) ā although many other criteria could be used.
Possibility of token voting. Tech underpin: web2
Once an idea/issue reaches this area, the original proposer and/or anyone who upvoted the original idea will be notified and directed to the proposal template page. At least one, the original proposer or someone who has upvoted, has to upgrade from Idea to Proposal. Once it becomes a Proposal, it must be fully written up (meet the templateās criteria) and posted on āforumā for debate. Signal voting could be available before actual vote as an option.
Once a proposal has fulfilled the template needs, all members of the Individual School DAO will be notified that there is a new Proposal up for discussion. This proposal will be open for discussion for a set time (Set a minimum discussion time period b4 voting?). Once this time has been completed it can be moved to a vote. Only the person or persons who proposed the idea can turn it into a vote.
The proposal may be withdrawn by the person or persons who have proposed the idea.
To-do: prep 2-3 proposal templates
Only members of the Individual School DAO may vote on the proposal. Many types of votes could be considered, e.g. binary, quadratic, etc.
Offer a delay of Xhrs so that proposer can double check if no mistakes have been made on the vote. Once the vote is committed, it can no longer be altered.
After a set period of time of voting, the vote closes and the winner(s) is declared and set.
Potential delay on decision enactment for legal considerations?

Tokens are non transferable, you cant have kids giving their parents the token or outsiders tokens. The school will have to send the tokens, or we can send them but will need a list of receiving wallets - of course with a build out over time the school could manage this when tech makes it easy

What do we mean archived? If in the forum, noā¦ it will just move down. If its a voteā¦ votes will go to vote in 7 days just like Aragon

This is more than we can handle now, this is 5 years out and a lot of tech to compare and get a similarity rating to auto decide if it is a duplicate.

There needs to be bylaws that the DAO sets. anything in violation should not be voted on (guardians)

We will have to use Aragon for blockchain based voting. Until then we can use Google Forms, and discord for voting as a web2 solution that we could setup and manage. The forum could be branded to each school. Other web 2 voting solutions cost way too much. Tyoe form is a possibility as they have a poll feature but I dont know how good their permissions control is (Multiple account voting etc)
