Unit proposal: Decision Making Research

This unit will support research into the different aspects of making better, faster decisions. We aspire to bring talent, passion, and methods together with need and funding to this important space. Our goal is to be a center of excellence for understanding and improving group decision making.
A key challenge in Humane Collaboration is how groups of people can make good decisions together. Across Web3, DAOs struggle with coming to agreement on actions to take and choices to make. We hope to create and spread ways of making those decisions in better, faster, and more humane ways.
The Unit will have the autonomy to set and change strategy with its internal decision making process. Some possible approaches include:
- Develop tools and methods for observing and understanding group decision processes and outcomes
- Synthesize learnings from our own projects and others into useful models of group decision making
- Publish both detailed reports about our findings and light tweet-threads
- Find and win grants for public goods research into group decision making
- Find clients who will actively benefit from this research, and conduct consulting projects for them
- Craft recommendations for tools and processes that improve the quality and speed of group decisions
- Support incubated projects who are seeking to build more effective tools for group decision making
- Create a sub-unit to offer decision coaching services to other DAOs and other Units within RnDAO, using data gathered to add to our research insights
