Personal information
- Can you tell me a little about yourself and your personal interests?
- Part of cinera team helping 1years start due to covid rules
- YSI group addressing body imagery issues with students. Enjoyed a lot, addressing influencer issues, spreading positivity, enjoyed the reimagine beauty
Student Council
- How does your student council work?
School brought students into it. 10 to 12 students discussing discussion topics, created social media on instagram, spoke with younger students about the issues. Had an adult support/mentor. Had group discussions.
Group discussion, nominate two leaders, if any dispute they make the final decision. Was a close group, easy to come to consensus, but perhaps voting tech more appropriate for bigger vote.
They have heads and deputy, the don’t finalize decisions. Everyone has a field of expertise. Academic, bully, sports (among others) + they have a mentor.
They have a box in front of the school for anonymous feedback. Anti bullying week with a lot of suggestions. Two representatives from each group. New school track (?) as projects.
Process for taking inputs from students: not formal. They take suggestions and read them in the meeting. No inappropriate messages. Bullying is brought by teachers. 25 people in the student council. Listen one member at the time and discuss.
If there’s no consensus, the head makes a decision. Nobody ever really disputes. Could be that people that are unhappy with decisions don’t talk. Never happened to her.
- Do you think a voting technology could be useful for the student council?
Small group, no need of voting technology. Efficient if bigger groups.
- Has it ever been a problem for you not being a leader?
Fine with not being the leader. Always
- What the function of the mentor? Do you see the council to be completely run by students?
Mentor was very important. Otherwise waste of time. There has to be control to get the work done
- Do you think the student concil has an impact in the school life?
Yes, student council is impactful. For example with bullying issues
- Do you think you have enough funds to have a real impact or you would like to have more?
Enough resources. They normally raise their own funds and they send funds to charity (50-50).
Raise 1200 - 1500 per event. 3 events. Enough in her opinion.
- How do you decide what to do with money?
They normally leave money for a stravaganza show. Would like to use money for sound system. Nobody has ever asked for something. Google form to decide which charity the money goes to.
- Where would you spend funds if you had more?
New facilities, new sound system, facilities for speakers.
- Would you be interested in learning ways to earn more to fund school projects?
Yes
- What’s the decision making process in the school council? How are decisions enacted?
Decisions —> Deputy —> Principal
Principal doesn’t actually do anything. Disagreement with principal never happened. School is very cooperative. IF they ask for something it’s usually ok, thanks to the mentor that normally filters.
Tech
Web3 description
Curious about web3, privacy issues?
Interested. Need to do more reasearch and understand the concept
What do you think about the tech being used at the moment
Likes google classroom, very easy to use, have everything in one place. Google docs. Google form for consensus. Used once a month by the council. Students send out forms a few times a week. Doesn’t like how the responses can be saved and everybody can see how everyone responded. Privacy issues. For example, feedback on bullyism are not necessarily anonymous.
Is a technology owned by students something that might interest you?
Not very interested, might be used inappropriately. Need more anonimity but it was students owned people would take advantage. Fear about using student owned organization because of what could happen
Would you be interested in learning more about web3?
Yes
- Technology - Blockchain/web3/NFTs/Metaverse/tokenomics

- Learning Web3 relationship with money
- Interested in learning about transparency and privacy
- Case studies and uses of the tech
- Yes
- Would be beneficial for students to learn from other students

Personal information

Deputy of school council. Public person, likes to get involved and chat. Stays at school until 6pm.
What’s your relationship with your school?
Great school, dependable on their technology, they have whatsapp group chat
Do you think students are heard in your school?
The schools does a very good job in involving students but then it comes to the individual. Someone is not interested in getting involved.
Could you tell us about how the student council works?
Really good group of students in the council. Mentor always keep students in the loop.
How they get the opinion of other students?
Send out surveys with google form.
Is there any issue that you didn’t manage to carry forward with the student council?
Problems: self-expression (body), attempt to change this —→ the school is adamant (reason: don’t want to put pressure on parents, contradictory). Student council took initiative. Never got to send any survey. It would be beneficial to survey the population.
Tech
What do you think about the technology currently used in your school?
Like technology, good for environment, less paper.
Not a techy person.
Do you think there are privacy issues with the tech you are using?
When post something on classroom, everyone can see it. School email are monitored. They can’t send email to external address. Censorship. Lack of privacy. It’s a protection though.
