Purpose of meet: to see how we can make workflows of the writer's guild easier using the bounty board

Bounty Board current state and goals
  • it's definitely alpha, with rough edges
  • mainly used in Discord via DEGEN, but work on a website is ongoing
  • would like to increase adoption within the DOA to help solidify our use cases

Writer's Guild top-of-mind issues that the BB could help with:
  • Need designers to be actively involved in shipping content
    • Need engaging header images for ALL header post
    • Currently using stock images
    • Need graphics/charts to be design (in Bankless style)
  • Need marketing support
    • Bounties for views using twitter, channels, etc
  • They have loosely set up liaison role in WG and design guild
    • But the two people in this role are really stretched thin in DAO (Frank and Hiro)

Can you tell us more about the Writer-Design liaison?
  • Don't have much set up at all yet
    • on the upside: we aren’t breaking a process by integrating with BB
  • Frank is a natural fit - he already worked with a designer to get a header up and they really liked it
  • They (writer's guild) would love to share bank between the guilds too (i.e. velocity of money)

Would be great if the process to get design assets was automated
  • It takes a lot of work to SOURCE designers - different times, allowances, etc
  • So if we set a bounty for like 3-4 days (tight turnaround), ANY designer would be fine

Workflow question: how would design guild get the bounty?
  • It shows up in the bounty board project (web, -bounty-board in Discord)
  • But maybe we need designers to see it more directly
  • ACTION: (links) speak to design and marketing guild about how we can connect them to design/mkt bounties
    • Could it pop up in their design-general channel?
    • It might be annoying if it was in another channel - when you get into discord like 5 times a week and have a tag
  • Speaking to recurring bounties - 6x a week we ship articles, we need marketing support (tweet storms, etc)
    • This could be a recurring bounty for each article
    •
Sam: where do payments come from?
  • Currently we’re doing tipping through collab.land
    • Could give guild treasurer (or other member) a bounty purse at the beginning of the season
  • For non-tip payments: Gas fee is an issue - could have a workaround for this in the future
    • Polygon talks are currently ongoing, but it will be awhile
  • Sam: tips sound good because of gas fees, and also for speed of payment
    • Technically they already have this in the writer’s guild - Frank has a large purse of tips
    • When new writers and editors join, the original idea was to tip them, but now it should come out in the next payout...but this means some writers are waiting up to 5 weeks to get paid, which reduces enthusiasm, etc

Another use case: editor tests and writing tests
  • Most of talent scout hours are put towards DM-ing people
  • Tons of explanation, copy-pasting messages on DM
  • If she could say: look at bounty and she gets completed docs when they are done
DECISION: Start with the editing and writing tests
  • Meanwhile, kick off coordination with design and marketing guild

Editor test current workflow
  • New member comes in, Sam will DM them to find best fit
    • If they want to edit (newsletter, client services, medium/mirror post) they MUST take he editing test
  • There is a dummy article with a lot of errors and structural issues, content problems
    • Not just pick up commas, but also big structural issues
    • The goal is to have editors who can help new writers grow
  • She sends them link to notion pages which describe it
  • Editors make a copy of the document
  • Editors edit using comment/suggestion on Google
  • Sam will read it, and Hiro will help
    • This is a 2 day turnaround
  • If they pass, she add them to their list, and announce they pass in the editors channel

Editor test proposed BB workflow
  • Sam to put in the bounty in BB via DEGEN
  • When bounty gets claimed, immediately put it back up using the same DEGEN command
    • eventually, we could write code to have "evergreen bounties", but for now this can test with least effort
  • When a bounty gets claimed:
    • Submitter and claimer get DMs from DEGEN
  • When a bounty gets submitted for approval
    • Submitter(Sam) and claimer get DMs from DEGEN
    • FEATURE REQUEST: would be nice to have a link submitted through DEGEN to complete? (i.e. to complete this bounty, put the link to your finished gDoc in this text field)
      • For now Sam will add this in the description
  • When a bounty gets completed
    • Submitter(Sam) gets DM from DEGEN telling them to tip out
    • Sam tips out and does regular Editor add stuff (msg in Discord, etc)
    •
ACTION: Jordaniza to fix the BB bug we found: (https://bountyboard.bankless.community/61853436d7162d00200f98ad) links to nothing
ACTION: Sam to submit bounties over and over for editing and writing test for the next week

How do you (Sam) want to interact with BB?
  • The DEGEN integration is cool for creating, BUT for people claiming bounties, the website makes WAY more sense
  • How do people actually find the bounty board anyway?
    • ACTION: (links/jordaniza) figure out the discoverability piece (maybe talk to first_quests)
    •
BUG: the search bar doesn’t actually work BUG: discord handles don’t show up nicely on web frontend
FEATURE REQUEST: default show OPEN on web frontend FEATURE REQUEST: filter by other things (like writing, editing, design etc)

Nittra’s feedback
  • Design guild can def use this for their internal bounties
  • Feedback is an issue for the design guild - it would be super useful together feedback in a timely way
    • Perhaps you can tell people how long it will take to get feedback?
  • Would be nice to have areas where you can add reference photos or designs. Like Logo, style or color ref.
  • I think it might be good ideas to publicly show the feedbacks.
    • It is for persons to learn. Like next creators, writers can check if it was a similar projects
    • For example, the person who requests it can send over the old bounty and say take this as ref, so they can learn directly from that
