      About Section
The School DAO project aims to revolutionize the way schools are governed, and we're doing it with the power of DAOs - Decentralized Autonomous Organizations.
We began with a simple observation: schools are often a place where students feel their voices go unheard, where important decisions are made without their input, and the resulting environment often feels imposed rather than chosen. Students sometimes find themselves pitted against the system, leading to disengagement, dissatisfaction, and a lack of ownership. In the instances where student councils or class representatives exist, they are often limited in their influence, and do not always represent the interests of the majority of students.
Our research indicates that this adversarial process can also lead to decreased academic performance and ultimately squandering of the maximum potential of the students.
Our solution? We turn to DAOs and web3 technology. A DAO, or Decentralized Autonomous Organization, is a governance structure powered by blockchain technology, which allows decisions to be made in a democratic, transparent, and decentralized manner. Instead of being controlled by a single entity, everyone involved in a DAO has a say in its governance.
By introducing our DAO product and learning platform in high schools, we are giving students a powerful voice, and the opportunity to participate directly in the decisions that affect their daily school lives, transforming the governance of schools, and turning them into more democratic, engaging, and inclusive spaces.
Our platform educates students on the use of DAOs, providing them with the tools and knowledge to conceive and debate proposals, and vote on them in a democratic manner. We aim to make the proposal and voting process not only inclusive but also habitual, ensuring a fair representation of all voices.
But we're not stopping at student participation. We're teaching students how to foster positive partnerships with other stakeholders like school management and parents, developing their leadership and negotiation skills in the process.
We're using DAO technology differently, applying it to the educational sector to revolutionize school governance, and in doing so, we're creating a new paradigm where students are active contributors, not just passive recipients.
In other words, we're giving power back to the students, and we believe the potential for positive change is enormous it's going to change everything.
Welcome to the future of school governance. Let's start building it together.

How It Will Work - Roadmap
We envisage our School DAO platform designed to be user-friendly and empowering, giving voice to the needs of school students and a seat at the table when it comes to the decisions on how their school is run. Here's how it works:
      1. Simple Onboarding Process: (pic of 2 girls, boy w laptop)
      a. Creating the Student Wallet: To get started, each student will be whitelisted to provide secure access to the platform either using their school or personal email address, or via a digital wallet.
      b. DAO Parameters: Using a gamified approach, and to promote active student voting and decision making, Students will vote on the parameters for their school's DAO, including voting methods, quorum thresholds, and stakeholder access permissions.
      2. Student led Governance (pic of classroom w teacher on desk)
      a. Ideation / Discovery Area: Any member of the school community can propose an idea or issue to start a discussion, like creating a thread on a forum. Ideas must have a title and brief explanation. If the idea receives a predetermined threshold of student support (upvotes), it progresses to the proposal phase.
      b. Proposal Area: When an idea reaches this stage, the original proposer and supporters are notified and directed to a proposal template page. The idea must be developed into a full proposal, meeting the template's criteria, and posted on the platform for debate. Optional signal voting can be used before the actual vote.
      c. Voting Area: Only members of the School DAO may vote on the proposal.
      d. Enactment: After a proposal passes, we provide guidance on next steps for implementation, including presentation of proposals to stakeholders, including School Management and parents, building partnerships and working to enact proposals with all . A record of the decision is kept in the DAO's ledger.
      3. Learning Library and Resources (pic of big library)
Our platform houses a comprehensive learning library with training materials and resources. It also maintains a record of all platform activities, promoting transparency and accountability.
      4. Collaboration
We foster collaboration by providing a space where students and stakeholders from all School DAOs can share initiatives, learnings, and collaborate. This could even extend to regional or national level discussions for educational reform.
      5. Support and Consultation
We offer support and consultation services to ensure smooth operation of DAOs created on our platform and resolve any issues.

Projects and Partnerships (pic of Granada Hills crest - https://images.app.goo.gl/E3Y2qc8UsgZivYFYA)
Between March and June 2023, we launched our first POC in partnership with Granada Hills Charter School in Los Angeles. We ran an educational programme with three classes of different age levels, involving more than 100 students. The programme included an introduction to the Web3 world, what a DAO is and how the governance process works within it. During the project, the students worked together both in class and on a forum to create and refine proposals to improve their lives within the school, after which they took a vote via Snapshot, a decentralised voting platform. Among the most popular proposals were a new policy for the use of smartphones within the school, a new dress code policy and a request to open more toilets for students, as the number of accessible toilets was limited due to safety issues around students vaping in the bathrooms and setting off smoke alarms that were resulting in school evacuations. To mitigate this risk, the students suggested installing vape detectors. Not even a week after the project was completed, the school installed the first vape detectors. Congratulations to the students of Granada Hills, excellent work!

The School DAO: Improving School Governance to improve student life
Managing school governance can often feel like a high-wire act. Balancing the responsibility of ensuring student safety and maintaining educational standards, while considering the diverse needs of teachers, parents, and the broader community, is no small feat. The traditional model of centralized governance, often conducted without the active input of all stakeholders, can lead to feelings of disconnection and indifference, deepening the divide between the decision-makers and those they serve.
It's time for a change, and that's where The School DAO comes in. Our mission is to break down these barriers and redefine the rules of the game. We're on a journey to empower ALL school stakeholders - students, teachers, parents, and community members - through an accessible, transparent, and user-friendly platform.
Leveraging cutting-edge web3 and DAO technology, we are democratizing school governance and making it a shared responsibility, lightening the load on those who carry the burden today. Our vision is a future where everyone has a voice, where decision-making is not an opaque process left to a select few, but a shared initiative that creates a deep sense of community, ownership, and cooperation among all stakeholders.
We're not just changing the way decisions are made; we're empowering everyone involved in the school ecosystem. We're showing that every teacher, student, parent, and community member can actively shape the direction of their school and have a tangible impact on its future.
So, are you ready to be part of the change? Join us at The School DAO as we redefine school governance, bridge gaps, and empower every member of our school communities. Together, we will ensure everyone has a stake, everyone is heard, and everyone shares in the success of our schools. Let's get started on this empowering journey!

      • The school experience can often feel like a never ending confrontation. On one hand, you have school administrators who have the responsibility of keeping children safe and engaged, all the while trying to help them to mature and develop into awesome people. On another, you have the students who are discovering their independence and can often feel at odds with the school as they struggle to express themselves and balance maturity and freedom. Yet another group are the teachers who can often feel like they are stuck in the middle of these two groups, fighting for what is best for the children and trying their best to respect the rules of the school. Finally, you have the parents who just want their kids to grow the hell up and get a job
Everyone of these groups has needs and desires which can clash with the others. The prospect of finding consensus while keeping everyone happy is next to impossible. It all feels like a battle, a war.
This is where The School DAO comes in. At our heart we are a system to develop communities and allow them to be empowered. Our mission is to break down these barriers and redefine the rules of the game. We're on a journey to empower ALL school stakeholders - students, teachers, parents, and community members - through an accessible, transparent, and user-friendly platform.

        • Welcome to [Your Project Name]: Reinventing School Governance!
Imagine this: high school governance can often feel like a tug-of-war with everyone pulling in different directions. Administrators strive for efficiency, teachers demand resources, parents want the best for their kids, and students, they just wish they had a real voice. Don't even get us started on Jerry, the janitor's perspective. The result? A wild scramble that leaves everyone a bit frazzled. But that's about to change with [Your Project Name]!
We're introducing Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO) and web3 technology to transform this chaos into a democratic harmony. Our mission? To empower every stakeholder in high school governance, ensuring everyone has a meaningful say in the decisions that shape the school.
So, strap in for an exciting journey into the future of school governance. With [Your Project Name], every idea matters, every vote counts. Welcome aboard - it's time for everyone to steer together!
    • Why DAO’s and web3?
      • Why DAO and Web3? A Digital Revolution in School Governance!
Think about the conventional structures of school governance - they are often centralized, prone to red tape, and lack transparency. The majority of decisions are taken in administrative offices, behind closed doors. This often excludes essential voices and perspectives from being heard. Enter: DAO and web3 technologies, ready to flip this script!
DAO, or Decentralized Autonomous Organization, and web3 technologies, are the keys to redefining this narrative. By decentralizing the decision-making process, they foster a sense of equality and access that is rare in school governance. No more being tied down by schedules, geography, or gatekeeping - stakeholders can participate in school governance anytime, anywhere. This inclusive and transparent approach enables teachers in their staffrooms, students in their rec rooms, or parents at home to all have an equal say in shaping the educational environment.
But DAOs and web3 don't stop at just leveling the playing field. They also foster a new level of trust among stakeholders. Decisions are no longer dictated from the top down; they are collaboratively made and visible to everyone. This transparency can enhance mutual understanding and encourage cooperation among groups. Most importantly, a DAO is a democratic system that belongs to all its users - its very code prevents it from being censored or unduly influenced by a single party. This paves the way for a governance solution that is, in essence, a democratic platform collectively owned and controlled by the entire school community, right down to Jerry, the janitor. Imagine a school where every voice truly counts and can shape the school's future. That's the transformative potential of DAO and web3 in school governance. Welcome to the future, where everyone is in the driver's seat!

With our School DAO platform, we're pioneering a new form of school governance that is democratic, inclusive, powered AND owned by the students themselves. We're not just creating a tool; we're shaping tomorrows leaders to lead today.

Welcome to the future, where everyone is in the driver's seat!

this sounds like we are trying to run a school as opposed to empower students to have a more representative, cohesive and democratic voice
