Action Items
Accounting
(links to fill in)
- Bank for the remaining of the season: 3.9M
Funding
No funding!
Discussion
- S9 Funding
- Projects need KPIs
- Iced collecting KPIs for IMN and Infosec
Research Guild
- see a bunch of activities around guild support (i.e. governance, meetings) BUT not towards pursuit of their mandate (attract and retain members)
- Things like AV Guild - they have few members because they are actually counting people who are doing AV work
- The funding system isn’t failing - it’s actually working, so maybe we can deepen the requirements
- Last season they were using ChatGPT reports to say they were being active
- so basically we are paying ChatGPT to make report
- ChatGPT isn’t inherently bad - it’s a tool like any other tool (+2)
- Of course we need to be strict around funding, but “member-based funding is crap” - DAOlexa
- 5 contributors could be carrying the weight of 30 active members
ACTION: links to bring RG to the GC meet
IMN
- got $67K in revenue but asking for BANK. Should we be funding them?
- $51K is coming from OP grants, but it is uncertain when they will be coming (i.e. they cannot depend on it yet)
- 10% is a kickback to the DAO
- DAOlexa asked them why they needed the funding, it was not clear to them
- if you look at BANK as governance rights - isn’t it a good thing that successful projects are getting more governance rights?
- If we are asking this from some projects and not from other projects, it is unfair
- we need to standardize the way we treat projects
- should we treat projects/guilds/departments differently?
- No - they are all DAO contributors
- Yes - they have different mandates and we should be asking different questions and having different expectations
Project Management Guild
The Rug
- they are doing good things - they are opening new properties, growing their audience, they are doing their thing (this is good)
- BUT are we getting enough value back to the DAO?
- for instance, we don’t get anyone onboarded to the DAO FROM the Rug, but rather we onboard people TO the Rug
- We are the ONLY group that is sponsoring them - is this wrong? Does the fact that no other crypto group is funding them mean something is off?
- looking at their KPIs, they are far away from NFT mints (self-sovereignty KPI)
- there is a numerical aspect to doing their work - view count, produced content, etc
- but then there is other tangible value (i.e. there’s a place for people to go to learn how to make this kind of content)
- there is a core group that we know - ray asked for access to their discord last season
- we could standardize media grants
- i.e. certain amount per podcast episode
- do we have the same ask for The Rug as other media entities (i.e. Crypto Sapiens?)
- should we reduce our subjectivity?
