Onboarding flow and checkpoints to the public library
ย
This illustrates the current flow as-is to the public library discussions
Checkpoint 1: Entering discord
  1. Gitcoinโ€™s blog post
  1. Link sent by friend (ex Scott send a link in twitter DMs)
  1. Discovered Discord link elsewhere
In general, most folks enter the Gitcoin Discord will see limited channels and will have to complete the #start-here channelโ€™s onboarding process in order to view each workstreamโ€™s general channel
Checkpoint 2: Getting #PG Library Scholars role
  1. Role given due to moderating a session
  1. Role requested on the Discord
  1. Role requested over Twitter DMs
  1. Role given due to recommendation
The role can only be given by moderators of the Discord channel. Previously it was more liberal. This role gives you access to the channels #public-goods-library and the Common Room. There are currently 166 PG Library Scholars. Role holders take part in the weekly public library discussions over the call and over the chat too. (
ex - Kevin assigns role
Key Question: Who has the ability to assign roles? What criteria do we use?
Checkpoint 3: Getting #PG Librarians role
  1. Role given when requested
  1. Role given after discussion and person wishes to contribute
This role can only be given by moderators of the Discord channel. This role gives you access to #public-library-ops. There are currently 55 PG Librarians.
Role holders help to run public library discussions. Volunteering to moderate the voice channel, moderate the chat, record the session, scribe, and introduce more moderators. A lot of work was going into coordinating contributors for these sessions and weโ€™re working on streamlining the ops of it. Current idea is to have quarterly calls and then assign roles for the quarter since its usually the same folks helping anyway. That way we donโ€™t have to do a weekly call and can free up a timeslot for meetings. Right now weโ€™ll just have the roles and contributors pre set up for the entire quarter and have one or two coordinators help onboard speakers.
Some Welcome messages QZ has been sending:
Joining the calls
Welcome to Gitcoin 1. Main Notion (https://gitcoin.notion.site/GitcoinDAO-22431fe7c9794d99986a028c23ce56b5) - you can see the different workstreams we have - today was part of the Public Goods Funding workstream (https://gitcoin.notion.site/Public-Goods-4ccd579f433c4dff9d8952314468d6e8) 2. Public Library (https://gitcoin.notion.site/Public-Library-131a38f0899748abad12bf9973f2db74) - its our weekly huddle where we just VIBE on public goods, different people do it differently, some moderate with slides, some facilitate a discussion etc - Our minutes are all here (https://www.notion.so/gitcoin/Public-Library-131a38f0899748abad12bf9973f2db74#7437ad623b504e4da83f2c73546296a7) to view them in an easier manner, you can click on the "Calendar" and select a different view 3. Discord - its chaotic, don't worry about it! - you can mostly view the Public Goods channels #public-goods-general is really for anything random, #public-library is where we hold these discussions - for each session we create a thread so its easier to manage

Twitter - Ops coordination (https://www.notion.so/gitcoin/Public-Goods-PR-e024f3d7c591408f82cfb17886921932), you'll find all the sessions, who's been here etc and give you an overview - Tweet summaries and content (https://www.notion.so/gitcoin/Public-Goods-Weekly-on-Twitter-1e5cd304d28e49edb7f2024d2596a8b5) - so here is where we've been holding our twitter, there has been 9 sessions so far ALL discussing about public goods - I also do summaries and tweet threads inside each of these sessions - feel free to read them all, listen to them, read the tweet threads etc and get a sense of what's happening - its still a work in progress, there's one final session on 20th dec 5pm EST 3. Public Library (https://www.notion.so/gitcoin/Public-Library-131a38f0899748abad12bf9973f2db74) - if you scroll slightly down to "Events Calendar" you'll find there's a lot of content already there spanning back to 26 August with all the session we've had so far - recent calls have had a drop in scribing activity but they're still recorded
