Hackathon Providers Research

TaiKai Hackathon Provider Call Notes
End-to-End Online Hackathon Cost: $35k + 5k/month for the duration of the hackathon (minimum suggested for online hackathons is 1 month) 35k include:
  • 2 months of preparation before the hackathon (consultation, marketing, content creation, Twitter Spaces, guidance to judges, communication with partners eg.Arbitrum, etc.)
  • 2 months after the hackathon (prizes distribution, feedback sessions, etc.)
*Data from the hackathon stays on the platform forever. (a page for each project, with the ability to add a video, and more)
IRL Hackathon or Hybrid will include all of the above plus travel/accommodation costs for their team (and our team and judges and the cafe of course that we'll have to cover) So, for a 2 month online hackathon we'll need $45k and we'll need to do some meetings with them to talk strategy and reposting the content they create for it. (+ access to their 80k member community through their promo)

Depends on the type of hackathon, number of people, how expensive the city is, how many days.

  • $200k-$300k is enough for a hackathon that Klaus likes.
  • $30k or less for a one-day hackathon of 30-50 people.
Ideas
  • include $$$ for Scholarships in the proposals (for people that can’t afford to join)
  • Subtopics/Tracks: We curate problem statements (we’ll do it as part of the Co.Lab) and then we invite participants of the hackathon to work on them.
  • A hackathon is a trust exercise. It can be a good chance for the team to get together with Arbitrum or even for team members to meet each other IRL.
