I (james) finally had a chance to catch up with Tiki after a few weeks.
For context, I recently returned from a 2 week vacation and Tiki is in the middle of a whole thing that involved buying a boat in Canada and sailing it to Mexico.
We have not had a meeting in 4 weeks, nor has any strong technical progress happened in that time.
We discussed that Tiki has approximately 5 weeks left in his voyage and he will not have any internet or time to work on the project until he anchors in Mexico (targeting September), where he will stay for the foreseeable future.
Ultimately, Governator will not be able to proceed without this contributor until that time.
The delay in MVP is disappointing, but this is life and we will take the lesson and try to build resilient team in the future (particularly, we hope to train up Ken to work alongside Tiki in the backend so that we have at least 2 contributors working on the core system.) To be fair, its pretty unusual to have a contributor take a 2 month sailing journey.
This delay moves our timeline in the following way:
  1. MVP work is on pause until September 2022
    1. All role remuneration will be paused from approximately July 3 - September 1st, depending on Tiki’s landing
    2. S4 research will still be completed as promised
  1. MVP likely not to be delivered to production bDAO until October 2022
  1. The next Grants Committee appearance for Governator would be no sooner than MVP delivery in October
    1. Due to our scheduling issues and some over-estimation, we have enough funding to wait this out.
  1. After MVP launch, the technical team would prioritize tech debt, bugs, and scalability for the remainder of the year.
    1. The product team would be running demos, handling customer support, and ultimately learn what to prioritize in the next feature season.
    2. Tiki would spend time training Ken on the BE
    3. New features would not be started until January 2023
