New members:
- No new members
Newsletter:
- Last edition has been published and has gathered a lot of recognition
- Thematic issues make sense and arouses more interest around Decentralized Law
- Next issue of the newsletter will ship on June 29 (will focus on NFTs)
- Next edition will feature an interview with a law professor who is a copyright NFTs expert
- Draft articles for the next edition expected by June 15
- First volunteers to contribute in the next edition: RedHatRoss, lion917, sacred, GOxse, Tayy, Merlo
- Dedicated website for Decentralized Law (it could be owned by the Legal Guild and feature a section on sponsors, could allow for collaboration with other DAOs)
- teresacd may help us build our own website
- Lawyer by the name Jordan who works for LexDAO β potential good fit for an interview
- Alexa β leader of some DAO movement (another potential good fit proposed by Eagle)
GTG:
- Mint is to happen on June 1
- Everything else is ready and in good shape
- Immediately after the mint, distributions to the contributors will be made
- A lot of law firms do not mind contributing to the GTG for free (with respect to those jurisdictions that have not yet been covered)
DAO Entity project update:
- Funding secured for the project β big shout-out to lawpanda, MD Lawyer and lion
- Questionnaire is being put together to check out who is interested in contributing and what aspects of the guide they can cover
- Bankless forum β somebody offered help in researching potential entities to host a DAO (that person has some connection to BakerMcKenzie)
Digital nomads project:
- Friendly jurisdictions for people working in web3 and move around the world
- We can pair another drop of NFT for the GTG with the Digital Nomad project to use the existing infrastructure built for the GTG
- We can also publish the output of this project without minting NFTs (to avoid difficult logistics)
- The projectβs leader (jengajojo) prefers to pair it with the second edition of the GTG token mint (access will be token-gated)
Open discussion:
- End of algorithmic stable coins not backed by sufficient reserves?
- Class action against Pulltogether in the US involving also the founders (now with a bear marker we can expect more people may be more likely to initiate cases)
- A lot of legal developments in Europe (MiCa, KYC, identification of originators)
- Crypto taxation in India β taxation law in India states that you have to pay 30% on transfers of crypto assets; three different departments of Indian revenue service deals with crypto; if you offer services in India you cannot accept payments in crypto; seems that Indian taxation only refers to trading in crypto
- Italy: every exchange that offers conversions needs to have a legal entity in Italy (what will the likes of Binance do to stay compliant?)
