Povilas worked as a Software Engineer for MaidSafe before coming to Argyle as Infrastructure Tech Lead.
At MaidSafe, he contributed to building a decentralized, privacy, and security-oriented data network where he was mostly working with the networking. He maintained uTP, NAT traversal, p2p connections, and related Rust libraries where he was responsible for overall design and development. He researched QUIC protocol applications for p2p systems. All work was open-source which included communication with the community as well.
Povilas also worked as a Software Engineer for Tesonet where he worked on multiple networking projects. This included python-based distributed proxy service built on RabbitMQ and python-based HTTP/HTTPS proxy server framework. He implemented miscellaneous analytics prototypes based on Cassandra, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, etc. He also worked on miscellaneous data ETL (extract, transform, load) services.
At UAB New Vision Baltija, he worked as a C++ Developer/DevOps on C++ based Point of Sale. He also introduced unit tests for C++ and python projects and maintained and started modernizing legacy C++ codebase. Povilas refactored the build system to be able to build the product in one step, put existing projects under version control, and introduced semantic versioning for them. He set up a jenkins CI server and set up and maintained cross-platform (Windows and Linux) builds for C++ projects. He also introduced coding conventions.
He worked as a Software Engineer for Neurotechnology while earning his Bachelor of Science in Computer Software Engineering from Vilnius University. While at Neurotechnology, he worked on an in-house analytics SDK. It provided a service to collect and store numerical data, platform-specific libraries to send metrics, and data visualization dashboard. He was responsible for the whole development cycle: writing code, automated tests, documentation, tutorials, etc. He developed a round-robin DB engine in C (GNU 99) together with an HTTP API based on libevent. He implemented C, C++, lua, Android, and JavaScript client libraries. He also worked on GWT based Web dashboard.
