Agenda
- Make a plan for channel re-org so it can be implemented by Monday, January 17. Options:
- Make our own project channels and exist separately from the WG, like newsletter
- ap0ll0 believes we should have our own categories. We are a project and we have a multi-sig.
- We need to have a start-here and a voice channel. All projects can have 4 channels plus a voice channel. So we really have 3 channels to choose
- hiro suggested the other 3 channels for workflow, editing, publishing
- can we forego the voice channel and have a text channel instead?
- nonsense believes we can forego the voice channel. ops guild shouldn’t have an issue with it. 3 voice channels for the writers guild seems a bit much.
- Create threads underneath a Writers Guild channel
- Maybe have an EPA General and then put threads underneath that
- Now that CS is in the EPA, should those channels exist underneath EPA?
- nonsense informed that CS has already been trimmed down and to get included under EPA category, it would max our capacity
- long term roadmap discussion point - create our own server
- Medium re-org. How do we feel about creating a nav bar for Medium? Examples:
- It’s hard finding articles unless they’re new or trending. We have to search through the archives to find older articles.
- How many categories do we want? 5?
- NFTs, DAOs, DeFi, Opinion...
- hiro suggested Sam start it and we revisit next week.
- POAPs for published pieces? The thinking behind this is that POAPs could be used as “digital resumes.” How would we feel about writers getting a POAP when they publish with the EPA? Maybe one for passing the writing and editing tests, too?
- Frank and nonsense likes the idea
- One POAP for mirror and one for medium
- Frank believes a standard POAP for all instead of custom POAPs for each publication.
- nonsense added that the overhead for custom POAPs would be high as well.
- Is the first-come-first-serve spreadsheet system working for editors? How can we continue improving it?
- hiro believes that 7 days between jobs is too short, still doesn’t believe that work is fairly distributed.
- We may need to consider assigning articles
- Concern about the quality of work we’ve been publishing. hiro and Frank has encountered work that has needed more editing done.
- We need to revisit how long we spend on editing articles, hiro suggests 14 days instead of 7 days to edit a doc.
- nonsense suggested a stronger editor becomes the secondary instead of the primary.
- A lot of feedback about the lack of quality of writing and editing.
- Maybe we should pause our workflow and readdress our editors’ ability and emphasize quality from our writers. Editors need to challenge the writers to introduce something new.
Didn’t get an opportunity to address
- Editing Framework update: Trewkat is working on it and will let us know when ready for comments from the EPA.
- Do we still need blog submission folder? Are we using it?
- Good question, I check the Forms directly through gForms once or twice a week and never go to that submission folder because it’s so crowded (stuff doesn’t auto delete out of that)
- Are we crediting editors on our Medium articles?
- No, I think newsletter does tho?
- Here’s an example: https://medium.com/bankless-dao/makerdao-to-fund-sustainability-initiatives-6b8b4829237d
- maybe the only time an editor was credited?
- It’s not typical to credit editors, but I thought it could be interesting given
- we’re trying to build our editing practice (it’s a showcase of edited work)
- it could encourage editors, since they’d have to stand behind their work
- editors would also get an exposure bump
Action Items
