Social Media Guidelines

@GitcoinDAO Twitter
This will be continuously added to and refined until we have a guidebook. However, GTCDAO social presence will not be too rigid or formal. Always community-led. Keep things positive. Healthy dose of informative and fun via memes, etc.
General Do's & Don'ts
  • Make sure you don't accidentally like/retweet/comment on posts thinking it is your own account
  • Spread out your tweets and retweets for max visibility in our audience’s feeds
  • Preference of live tweets over scheduling/automation so you can edit/delete if anything is wrong
  • Reply/like where needed but avoid/ignore sensitive discussions where we possibly get tagged
  • Don't start tweets with @ or they'll get hidden under 'replies'
  • Like mentions if relevant, and retweet only when/if relevant
  • Tag people whenever relevant - always double check your tags
  • Tag people in images, you get 10 extra people for possible reach :) but be reasonable to not annoy people ;-)
  • Spend some time on following back once a month (follow people you know & 'influential' (1K+) people who are part of our audience)
  • Always follow people back who retweet us
Style
  • Respect & represent the tone of voice of Gitcoin DAO
  • Please AVOID the use of capitalized words, tooo many emojis and/or exclamation marks :)
  • Don’t overdo it in tags & hashtags (readability)
  • Avoid typos at all cost (there’s no edit button :) )
  • Read your tweets aloud before tweeting
  • Tweet from desktop if possible and install the grammarly extension (!)
  • No use of 'thru' or other lingo if possible
  • One link per tweet - create a thread if you need more
  • Livestreamed vids need a picture added, youtube does not allow live streamed (nonprofit) channels to get previews - use the image for extra tags
  • If you share a freshly created link, preview your tweet before tweeting with the card validator: you can test if it shows a preview or not here https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator and it will also 'crawl' for an update if you update the source
Themes to consider for posts:
  • Funding open source
  • Public goods funding
  • Web3
  • What would the community want to and need to hear about?
  • What does audience care about?
  • We can be maximalist on DeFi, NFT's, etc. but not particular projects in the Web3 space unless related to GTC
YES to tweet:
  • News about upcoming grants, events, and happenings in the DAO
  • Recaps from weekly meetings from various workstreams like MMM, public goods, anti-fraud, etc.
  • Memes (i.e. coordination)
  • Interesting convo
  • Inviting people to join in on discussions (post link to them)
  • Retweeting stewards & DAO contributors
NO to tweet:
  • Never mention or allude to price of GTC
  • No price talk in general. Ignore the economics and focus on culture & community
  • Avoid mentioning other products (risk of being viewed as picking sides)
  • No politics or anything alienating/aggressive
Some ideas for posts:
  • Coordination memes & memes from the discord channel
  • Affirmations
  • Audio clips from important meetings i.e. founder and stewards meetings
  • Quotes
