How to do task estimates

The current approach we agreed on is to apply the following practices:
  • We use hours as units of measurement.
  • Take your approximate estimate of how long the task would take based on your experience, and multiply it by 3.0. This multiplication factor is used to provide us with safety time buffer to deal with unpredicted obstacles.
  • Each team member gives their estimate (multiplied by the safety buffer factor), and then the average of all the individual estimates is taken as the final estimate.
