Common Questions After the Cohort Starts
1. Is the established word count a strict requirement?
  • No — it's more of a guideline or goal. We're aiming to be concise with our writing. Can you effectively communicate your point in the stated number of words or less?
  • If your post is a few hundred words over (or under), don't worry about it! Aim to stay below the word count but don't exhaust yourself fighting to get below it.
2. What pictures am I allowed to use when posting?
  • Technically, you’re not allowed to use any image from Google. Copyright laws require you to cite where you obtained the picture.
  • The best way to avoid any issue is to use websites that have free, legal stock photos. Here are some of the best sites:

3. Where and how should I give feedback?
  • The best way to give feedback is to respond directly to another Writer’s post in our chat.
  • Find a post that’s interesting to you or find someone who hasn’t received feedback on their weekly post yet.
4. Why do we wait until after publishing to get feedback?
  • Publishing is a top priority of the cohort
  • We're hoping to build a publishing habit, and we want people to gain the confidence to hit publish without having someone "review" their post first (this is likely how it will be after the cohort!)
5. I want to submit my writing for the week, but I can’t find my name on the Leaderboard Update Form. What should I do?
  • Your name must already be on the Leaderboard for the “Leaderboard Update Form” to update your name.
  • If your name is not on the Leaderboard, add your name by completing the Onboarding Survey
