ℹ️ In-Depth Overview
To “moderate” a session means to be a guest guiding one of our weekly Publics Goods Library discussions on a topic of your choice.
During the discussion, you will also be accompanied by a Gitcoin DAO moderator (typically Linh or Madison). One of the moderators will kickstart the conversation, help you facilitate the discussion, and cover logistics.

Steps to moderating a Public Goods Library discussion:
🗓 Step 1: Confirm a Date With Us
Public Goods Library discussions take place every Wednesday at 11 am ET / 3 pm UTC.
This calendar lists all past and future discussions. Weeks without a document are open and need to be filled. Please note that your session must be scheduled by the Monday before.

📕 Step 2: Prepare Your Discussion
Reach out to Linh (LinhT.Tran#) or QZ (QZ#6600) to express interest and we’ll guide you along and give the right access permissions to Notion and Discord, provide operational support, and give context where needed.
To prepare for your session...
It’s quite simple: choose a topic! Allow this space to be a place of lively discussion on a topic that you’re enthusiastic about. Think about discussion questions the group could riff on.
Choose a Topic
Choose a question and article for the discussion. You may also prepare a presentation.
Topics are rooted in web3 and public goods, but range from DAOs, community, governance, and everything in between. One of our main guiding questions are: what are “Public Goods”, and how do we create, fund, and sustain them?
Choose a Format
- Pitch your proposal/looking for idea refinement (discuss one person's single project in one call)
- Assessment of concepts and theories (good session to jam on a specific topic to dive deep into)
- Discuss Gitcoin's problems that need solving (where thoughts are needed, like governance - similar to stewards but these are just here to explore ideas rather than votes. Good place to start proposal submissions) —> this could be part of the weekly call.

📖 Step 3: Prepare Resources!
To prepare for moderating the discussion, you will need to:
fill out a quick Notion page that explains the details of your topic (this will be used as a reference for promotional purposes)
- This will automatically be sent to you once you have confirmed the date with the team.
- You will need to fill out the topic title, provide the audience context with a quick blurb, reference any related articles/content/insights, and include intended discussion questions.
Prepare a presentation!
- This could be in-depth or something quick and simple depending on the format of your session.
- From our experience, having a slide deck significantly enhances the experience of the mod and attendees as it acts as a great discussion guide.
Show up 5 minutes before the call time to do a mic check!
