Notes:
Check In
- IcedCool:
- S3 - BB is one of IcedCool’s top priorities
- also trying to make sure that he doesn’t get burnout and reCOVID
- Behold
- other than 9-5 it’s BB
- Jordaniza
- will go heads down on development and try to crank out as much as possible
- BB is one of many code projects
- Paul
- BB is a priority, BanklessDAO is 98% of his time
- DAODash, Analytics, BB
- his own personal learning plan goes along with his priorities above
- Links
- 50% at fiat - 50% freetime
- Allocated 10hr to bounty board (some a little more)
- Up for ramping up!
- How’s our bench?
- Could have Sam from user perspective side
- Iced/Bpetes/Links on the outreach/partnership/coordination side
- Behold/Jordan on tech side
- Acua/Trev/Chkaloon are promising
- would be nice to get 1-2 continual contributors (people w/ react experience)
- Paul on analytics to pump out the data we can handle
- First quest - dev guild first quest
- jordaniza/hashedmae have a subcomponent of dev guild that are working on how to get devs involved
- they are getting bounties to feed to people getting involved as way to get their feet wet
- feel there is a gap on the product/user perspective - bringing dev/analytics/user feedback together
- likely doesn’t need to be full time
- Behold - perhaps we could tap Steff to get some help on the customer side?
- If we had someone working customer side, then links could work on reconciling feedback and ensuring our team has the best info to make decisions
- for new people, we should continue to add bounties for them to get their feet wet and ensure they are being onboarded in a way that works for us
- this prevents JUST ANYONE from giving product direction
S2 Retrospective
S2 usage goals
- 250K BANK claimed
- 215,486 BANK allocated
- 32,949 BANK completed
- 50 bounties / DAO
- deployed on 10 DAOs
- Bounty board had 70 bounties placed on it (season 1 40)
S2 feature goals
- frontend bounty creation
- Gated bounties
+ (things we did well) | ∆ (things to change) |
laid some strong tech foundations last season - got control of our own infstrastructure - got multitenancy out | Ship more user-facing features |
Architecture work allowed us to make our units of work smaller based on the work we did this season - i.e. chkaloon everygreen bounties | Release more regularly with expectations on when/what will be released |
People are snapping up those bounties QUICK! | Work on our “atomic feature” workflow - get small iterative chunks in the backlog |
Free and clear on the disambiguation from DEGEN | Getting that qualitative feedback into our workflow |
We have a bot! We have gated bounties! | Paul - would like to play more to his own strengths, i.e. probably shouldn’t be working on DevOps as much |
Usage: Deployed to CityDAO, DIMO, LiveTheLife, Driving usage internally, ShapeShift, had a whale throw up a bounty for a retrospective | Marry the qualitative and quantitative feedback to surface clearer insights/direction |
ㅤ | Would like to understand more about Bounty Board as an individual org - how we sit within Bankless, what we own vs what we lean on from other orgs, how we are independent |
ㅤ | Make the product lovable! |
ㅤ | Wanna be seen in the DAO tooling space |
ㅤ | Tactical tenets - be able to do things a bit more asynchronously, for priotization, etc |
Scheduled vs ad-hoc release?
- Depends - on the one hand, scheduled releases could provide some useful pressure to get stuff done
- if we really create tight releases (i.e. understand scope) then we can have ad-hoc
- we should be pushing towards quality releases, not ship the feature when it’s not ready
- DECISION: have a discussion about this later
BB Values
- https://www.notion.so/bankless/Bounty-Board-Project-Page-318dc164cc5640cca17e0fb5f484fd90
- mission and strategy eencodes some values
- sometimes the money you get to build the product cripples the product in the long term
- so being curious, building for our values is important vs revenue
- Bpetes:
- funding issues from VC in web2 is something to avoid
- web3 collaboration - we aren’t building it all, we are part of the broader tooling ecosystem
- organic methods of marketing (so far)
- self-sovereignty (+1)
- i.e. for data - how are we integrating into the web3 work on this?
- bounties are just one component of the DAO-resume aka web3 linkedin
- Iced: decentralized, collaborative, self-sovereign, humble, transparent/integrity, authentic
- authentic/truthful - i.e. “people don’t like it yet”
- Paul: decentralization
- sees this in his country, would like to see the tools slowly build (like a frog in boiling water)
- sees value in building a product that resonates with the values of the space: decentralization
- making data available
- Jordaniza
- Is a part of this because the future of work is important
- Disappointing in what startups and VC’s have become.
- The tools that DAO’s give people are really important and enables the future of work.
- He really wants to shake up a system that has entrenched interests.
- Startups are seen as a money making machine, and VCs have become boring, where they chase more rounds of funding.
- It isn’t about what you are doing, but seen you are doing. It isn’t about impact.
- Values:
- Impact
- Enabling the disenfranchised
- NEW SYSTEMS - Better!
- Behold
- Recovering VC
- Skillset in engineering and academic training
- Found VC’s slowly becoming more money orientated, and decreasing their integrity.
- Opted out of hype mongering and wanted to build.
- Building in a web2 environment isn’t fun, and likes to be close to his users.
- Important values: Integrity, quality, close customer interaction and impact.
- Links
- Came from WEB2 - Thought they would be the future of work and more empowerment
- The way they get funded short curicits autonomy and self soverigncy.
- Reason why in web3- FUTURE OF WORK!
- Self sovereigncy -
- There is a missing tool-set for distributed decentralized work.
- Major and important and needed.
- Wants to be a part of that!
- Team soverigncy AND sustainable.
- Additionally it is fun to work on things that people love, and orienting toward
Personas to Pursue
- What problems should we be solving with the bounty board?
- Paul - analytics guild is looking to use BB to add people to the team via learn2earn and analyze2earn bounties
- Paul - Sourcing Talent - BB could be the start of a pipeline of talent to the team
- BB Should be doing this!
- Jordaniza - It is the entry point and where you start at the DAO. Getting your foot in the door is the hardest part, and after you become established.
- Clear sign posting
- Onboarding is HARD - BB Can help.
- Establishing credibility - Clear history of work.
- Icedcool
- Permissionless vs trusted work
- Additionally skilled vs unskilled work
- Behold
- Where is it easiest for us to deliver a lot of value.
- Links
- We should focus on TRUSTED contributor work
- Could we enable self sovereign work that is ALSO accountable.
- This could translate into digital identity support and integration.
- Bpetes
- Trusted talent on TEAMS vs Trusted Communities
- Would like to go grainular on the use cases for trust
- Different contexts
- New DAOs - EarlyDAO’s
- Attracting talent
- Established DAOs - BanklessDAO
- Getting work to trusted talent
- Personas:
- DAO Operators - people looking to onboard new people to their guild/DAO
- looking for certain talents that they DON’T have
- Trusted contributors - bankless has a unique perspective on this, but other DAOs also look to attract and RETAIN talent
- New contributors
- find your first job! once you get a few jobs and build a reputation, you can get more work more easily (make connections)
REQUEST for Links: When doing diligence: Supply-demand dynamics in our market (Behold)
- where can we provide a lot of value?
REQUEST for Links: can we go deeper on the use cases needed for trusted bounties? (BPetes)
REQUEST for Links: look into integrations as part of trusted use cases
