Art Director - Design Requests

Review Design Brief
Keep track of the design request coming in from Discord. Usually, the lead of the design request will ask whether you want to work on an asset.
Once you decide to take responsibility for a request, thoroughly review the design brief that was provided by the requester.
Clarify Understanding and Align on Direction
If not, reach out to the requester via direct message to share your initial ideas.
If they included a clear reference image or theme, you can start developing a few designs (multiple themes, illustrations, icons) as soon as the design brief is reviewed and send them the ideas for feedback. Iterate based on this feedback until they are happy with it.
Begin Asset Design
Begin the design of the asset(s) or campaign. Ensure that all assets are in line with the brief and visual guide.
Asset types and their considerations:
  • Social Media and Promotional Assets: These requests usually originate from MMM.
  • Graphics for Product Teams: These requests will be sourced from various departments within the DAO. Continually communicate with Creative Director and Brand Strategist to ensure the aesthetic aligns with the product’s specific brand.
  • Campaigns: A comprehensive campaign can span approximately a month, encompassing numerous assets. Some of these campaigns may be specific to rounds, often requiring updates and changes to layout, color, content, etc.
  • Video Campaigns: The process of creating a video campaign often exceeds the time required for illustration work. A vital part of every task is ensuring that there's a link to the GC grant and its visual language, which should meet quality standards.
Submit the Asset
Once you're happy with your work, post it in the Discord thread and tag the Creative Director, Project Lead, and the requester. Await their feedback, make necessary revisions, and upload the finished product at the correct dimensions.
If they request a different file type or dimensions, adjust and resend.
Design Asset Templating Systems
This process is being developed.
A crucial part of this is developing an easy-to-use Canva Brand Hub. This will allow users to plug colors, visuals, and photographs into templates that they can customize for social media.
Invite feedback from the DAO so that you can better understand their needs.
