Ep Guide
Intro & CTA
  • Welcome to Bankless Africa, where we delve deeper into the borderless world of the new frontier. This is Miss Purple and I will be your inquisitive guide on this ever evolving journey. According to Chainanalysis, there are an estimated 10 to 30 million crypto users in Africa. What if I told you that even though we are one of the fastest-growing regions for crypto adoption, those numbers are merely scratching the surface?
  • If you haven’t already, please do subscribe, whether you are listening via spotify, apple podcasts, Youtube or any other platform, please leave us a comment or a review so we can continue to bring you the kind of content that you want to see & hear moving forward. We will include all the links that we allude to during this episode in the shownotes so be sure to check those out as well.
  • Here to talk about one of the few African crypto event & hackathon, we have Mortech and GBoss.
Episode Questions
  • A year later, how are you both feeling about ETHSafari and the Africa crypto scene as a whole? ✅
  • Let’s talk about the hackathon slash boot-ckathon
    • Outside of the impressive $15,000 total pool prize, what can the projects that win the hackathon expect from you and the relevant sponsors? ✅
    • Since it will be happening on the taikai network platform, this means that anyone from anywhere can sign up and work on the challenges ✅
      • 250 registered devs ✅
      • Currently the 5 available challenges are Aragon, Coinbase, Kushite ICP HUB, SafariDAO and UTU ✅
      • There also Metamask, Avalabs and Scroll challenges which will be added at a later stage ✅
  • What has been the biggest focus this year in terms of the goals you have set for yourselves? ✅
    • I have had the opportunity to see the preliminary schedule and noticed this year’s schedule is jampacked, how many speakers would you say have lined up this year and what topics should we expect to hear? ✅
  • The last time I checked, SafariDAO was in the works, what can you tell us about that, any new developments you are willing to share of the progress of the DAO? ✅
  • While doing some research, i found that based on a large growing population, vibrant tech ecosystem and government support, Nairobi, Lagos, Cape Town, Accra and Cairo are the 5 cities that would be best suited as the crypto hubs in Africa. ✅
    • There are however multiple conflicting issues in Kenya as a whole that may hinder the possibility for Nairobi, but given that you are both from Kenya, do you think with the Finance Bill of 2023 specifically, Nairobi could still be conducive to crypto users and companies? ✅
    • The rise of PAPSS, which is the Pan-African Payment and Settlement System, a cross-border, financial market infrastructure enabling payment transactions across Africa, shows that the supposed powers that be are fully aware of the financial disparity and are looking for solutions…the questions becomes why they have this aversion from crypto. ✅
    • What does it say about Kenya’s people & potentially their openness to new tech that over 30 thousand of them signed up for worldcoin which gave them 25 worldcoin tokens, which are roughly equivalent to 7thousand KES? ✅
  • This is a crazy question but are there any tickets still available? ✅
  • 3 words on what you are looking to the most with this year’s ETHSafari? ✅
