(Type A) a collection of NFT's purchased by the DAO and sold via auction or direct purchase etc. (Custom contracts) (Type B) a collection of NFT's curated by the DAO but owned by the artists, DAO facilitates sale via timed auction and Receives % (Zora SDK)
in both of these, the DAO is acting as a decentralized curator. the first one has the benefit of gaining NFT exposure by actually owning them. the second one has the benefit of generating revenue without any upfront cost
the second one also is much more suited to assisting artists that are new to the crypto world. I imagine this eventually being integrated into the onboard initiative.
I think another mental model for this distinction is: (Type A) is a way for the DAO to accumulate value and art for itself (Type B) is a way for the DAO to help artists accumulate value for themselves, and take a % fee for doing so
