MEETING NOTE
Appreciation:
Og opened the meeting by appreciating everyone that attended the pidgin parlor launch party. People that attended and followed the pidgin parlor on all platforms will receive NFT.
Pidgin palour newsletter update
Og: The only translation we have done for S5 is for governance, we haven't done any newsletter. According to what was discussed, we are meant to be translating the Bankless Africa newsletter and newsletters from other guilds (writer guild for example).
Oge: any translation done Is a newsletter, so the governance document translated is a newsletter for pidgin parlor, way forward we can begin to create our editorials and so on.
Og suggested that in a month, we can translate two newsletters from Bdao, then one from Bankless Africa, then the pidgin parlor's editorial.
Oge asks a question: Since writer guild have four different newsletters, which one would be the best for translation?
Anointingthompson: The writer guild have four different newsletters, state of the Dao, decentralized art, and DeFi download.
Writer guild releases all four newsletters weekly. So I suggest we liaise with the writer's guild about the project. Also, who is funding the project is it Bankless Africa or the writer guild?
Oge: translation of English to pidgin isn't an easy task, so it is an open bounty(the recent translation done, 500 BANK was paid to each translator) for teams that are ready to contribute.
Og supported.
thinkDecade: pidgin parlor is a project on its own, we don't have to start going around translating all newsletters. We can create our strategy for pidgin parlor.
What is the strategy?
We could reach out to IMN and the translator guild. Before that, we must have established ourselves, we must be good at what we do. Pidgin parlor will create its newsletter, it would be in our format, and would be divided into different sessions.
We need to figure out what the newsletter is targeting, is it education or information? or both? If it is targeting both, Then we search for editorials across the Dao that are educational and the ones that provide information on Defi and work with them. We create a maximum of two newsletters per month, then our unique newsletter that tackles issues.
How do we get funded?
IMN add languages to their board, we can propose that pidgin be added to their board. We can get projects from them. We need folks to investigate translator guild and IMN to see how pidgin can fit into them. We could get funded from there.
Who are the targets?
Our focus is to get to people on the street, people that need Web 3 education. Translation of governance letter wouldn't help this kind of people.
Audio and video should be included, as it might be hard for people to read pidgin. But they can speak it well.
Action items
Investigate IMN (og)
Investigate Translator (Vibrantty and oge)
Create our newsletter structure (template)(Winverse, Xenos, Yofi)
Running of social media accounts
Thinkdecade has created the social media accounts, the following teams will run it.
Twitterย (og and olokoji)
Instagram (Softlife, angelspeaks, Ximpli_ana, SpiritedF)
Tiktok (Deewon, Ximpli_ana, angelspeaks)
Facebook hasn't been created yet.
Meeting Time:
The meeting time will be changed as it clashes with some other guild meetings in the Dao, poll will be set up for the day and time. Folks will choose preferred day and time.
Suggestions:
Og: I am making research on how to improve the pidgin parlor ( learning how to apply for grants)
Thinkdecade: we could have a workshop in the pidgin parlor, we will have education calender, dao topics we will teach people inside the Dao and external people too, so we can build an audience on our pages, from there we can charge collaborators.
Develop content flow, we can have a Twitter space every week or two weeks.
Commonwealth:
IF you aren't on commonwealth go and sign up, check posts, like, and comment ideas. (No coordinape for you if you don't)
Pidgin glossary:
This would be a collection of pidgin words, so translators can have a uniform and quality translation.
Interested folks can work with oge.
