I’m humbled and excited to be elected for this role. I see this role as a bridge between the Analytics Guild and DAO Dash, our infrastructure project designed to enable analysts and data junkies in our community. In Season 1, I’ve reached out to various stakeholders to get a better understanding of their data needs including members of First Quest and various community members looking to better understand member Activation/Engagement and Governance. I plan to continue this for Season 2, and this includes partnering with analytics guild members who work more closely with specific guilds (i.e., Marketing) and projects (Academy, Bounty Board) to get a sense of specific data needs.

Much of my work in the early parts of Season 2 will be around data engineering and database design. This will help set the stage for creating/updating SQL queries requested by various stakeholders. The process covers gathering requirements and turning those requirements into data tables ready for querying. I will be working closely with our Senior Data Engineer (McKethanor, our First Mate) to bridge the gap between stakeholder requirements and accessing raw data.

This is a rather new area for me, so there’s lots of learning on my part and as Guild Captain, I’m excited to make my learning public. This will be through the production of content (tweets and forum posts), but can also include an informal weekly learning session for anyone looking to work in DAO Dash as the primary environment for the Analytics Guild. My goal is to start these sessions at the beginning of November, once I have a handle on the process end-to-end.

I’m also a member of the Bounty Board team and in that capacity, I plan to revamp our process for managing in-take of new project requests. This will include helping data-requesters translate their requests into discrete tasks that can be posted as a bounty.

While not explicitly part of the Guild Captain role, I will facilitate our Governance Process within the Analytics Guild. This includes drafting up the Analytics Guild Constitution and working with the Guild Coordinator to ensure that community input shapes this living, breathing document. Since Season 0 to present day, I have led our Weekly Syncs and Community Call Report Out and while I’m happy to continue representing the Analytics Guild, I will partner with our Guild Coordinator to balance out those duties.

There’s a lot to do in Season 2 and I’m super excited to get to work!
