How to … Ask about privacy

Goals
  1. Give participant control and flexibility to feel safe about the conversation
  1. Honor the participant’s needs about keeping their information private
  1. Gather the richest data we can
  1. Be as open as we can with the data to support the best critique and future analysis

Options we can offer
When do we need what level of anonymity to get accurate information
    Recording and transcription process
    • No recording
    • Blur and alter -
    • Voice recording, no video
    • Recording, but use fake name for X info, only in notes
    • Recording, but (try to) delete after transcript review and scrubbing of X
    • Recording OK, but leave time at start and end for non-recorded discussion
    Information we can obscure
    • IRL name (not with a public recording)
    • Web3 Identity (with a public recording, only if their IRL identity is not tied to the Web3 identity)
    • DAO name (maybe, context might make it obvious)

      Light Script
      • As you know, this interview is for research purposes.
      • RnDAO and Open Research
        • Trying to make the data we start with public, so others can critique our logic and conclusions
        • Want to do this while respecting our participants’ privacy needs
        • Basic approach -
      • What info do you think is sensitive?
        • Your IRL identity
        • Your DAO or Online identity
        • The DAO you are talking about
      • How do you want to handle the privacy of this interview?
        • No recording
        • Recording, but we will use fake name for X info, only in private notes will we capture the realname
        • Recording, but (try to) delete after transcript review and scrubbing of X
        • Recording OK, but leave time at start and end for non-recorded discussion
        • Recording is fine, can be public
