Creating a new private channel

Clone one of the other private channels that has default permissions that you like (you can always customize further) and name it accordingly. In this example, we've create a new Geographies channel.

Adjust the channel permissions

Right click edit channel or click on edit channel from inside the channel.

Add the role that corresponds to the channel that you just created.

Remove roles that are not relevant to the new channel. In this example, other geographies.

Adjust the advanced permissions. Scroll down from the channel permissions.

You need to give the new role, in this case turkey, the following permissions: view channel, send messages and read message history.

. When you are done, the channel should look something like this.

Create carl-bot reaction role

This allows users to pick up the new role.  

. You need to create a post (for Geographies, in the #🌎country-select channel) that looks something that looks like this, so that the members can click on a reaction role icon and be assigned a country role, that will unlock the channel for them.

After you have posted on the channel. Swing over to carl.gg, click on manage, select bankless DAO , click on reaction roles and you will reach the following page.

3.  Go back to your post in the  #🌎country-select and copy ID of the message. If you do not see this, you might have to turn on developer mode in your own discord settings. (Settings >>> Advanced >>> Developer Mode)

4.  Click on create a new reaction role. Use ID , then paste the discord ID of the message on the second blank, and select #🌎country-select in the last column.

Painfully add a reaction for each country.

. After you save, the row of reaction roles should line up nicely below. You can test it by clicking on each of the reaction roles individually, and check that you will be assigned with that country. Click again to remove the tag.
